In 1977 and 1978, Richard Chase killed and brutalized six people in Sacramento, California.
The Victims
Ambrose Griffin
Ambrose Griffin was a 51-year-old engineer, husband, and father of two. On December 29, 1977 Griffin was helping his wife with the groceries when Richard Chase drove by and shot and killed him. Griffin and Chase did not know each other at all.
Teresa Wallin
Teresa Wallin was a wife and soon to be mother. On January 23, 1978 Wallin was home alone when Richard Chase entered through the front door that was unlocked and shot Wallin three times. He then raped her corpse while stabbing her multiple time with a knife. Chase then removed one of her nipples and drank the blood, removed multiple organs, and shoved dog feces down her throat.
Evelyn Miroth
Evelyn Miroth was a 38-year-old mother of a six year old boy. On January 27, 1977 Miroth was at home with her son, nephew, and friend when Richard Chase entered her house. Chase shot and killed Evelyn and then raped and cannibalized her corpse. When he had finished he brutally stabbed Miroth and drank her blood.
Danny Meredith
Danny Meredith was the neighbor of Evelyn Miroth and had stopped in to check on her at the time of her murder. Chase came into contact with Dan first, shooting him in the head and stealing his wallet and car keys.
Jason Miroth
Jason Miroth was the six-year-old son of Evelyn Miroth whom had a play date with his cousin David on the day of his murder. Chase ran after Jason, shortly after killing Dan Meredith, and shot Jason in the head twice at point blank range.
David Ferreira
David Ferreira was the 22-month-old cousin of Jason Miroth and nephew of Evelyn Miroth. David was being babysat by Evelyn when Chase shot him in the head and then split open his skull and consumed some of his brain. After a knock on the door spooked Chase, he took David's body and stole Dan Meredith's car to go back to his apartment. There he severed David's neck and drank his blood. Chase also consumed many organs and then left the body of young David at a nearby church.
